The 2020 COVID CUP (Bourchier PS v Guthrie PS)

With an extremely difficult year in the sporting department being that most things were all cancelled, we partnered up with Guthrie Street Primary School and with a little bit of planning the Bourchier Guthrie Covid Cup was born.

The slogan for the cup is Bringing Students Together Through Sport and an event we will now run every year between our two schools. We try to teach our students resilience and to look at the positives in all situations and this event can be one shining light out of what has been a difficult 2020.

Guthrie Street hosted this year’s event and the day was a huge success. Our grade 6 students could not have represented our school in any better fashion with wonderful determination and amazing sportsmanship.

Out of the 5 games played throughout the day in the four different sports (Soccer, Football, Basketball, Netball) we were lucky enough to come out on top in three of those games which gave us the overall victory for the day.

Our school leaders accepted the amazing cup from Mr. Bicknell (Guthrie St Principal) and we brought the cup back to Bourchier Street where it will stay until next year’s event.

Well done to everyone that was involved, we couldn’t have been more proud of you all.
